Perhaps you use the train frequently or don't
have a secure place to leave your bike while at work. Then consider
a folding bike that can be taken pretty much wherever you go. There
are plenty on the market at the moment but our favourite remains
the Brompton: the nearest thing to origami on two wheels.

We find this has the finest balance of ease-of-folding
to ride quality available on the market… and at an affordable
price. Moreover, after 17 years, the company has now radically
broadened the range of accessories and upgrades available. These
include: super-light titanium parts, new handle bar designs offering
a range of riding positions and one-, two-, three- & six-speed
options.

C3E: £395. The classic ‘C’ type;
a basic no-frills Brompton. -
that's the one in the pictures just above right. It's only available
in red.
M3L: £500. Comes with mudguards,
folding left-hand pedal and (substantially) upgraded tyres and
brakes. Only available with a black mainframe and silver extremities.
For long term fans, this one is the equivalent of the old

P3L: £537.

superlight frame and titanium seat-post; a folding-pedal axle and
hi-leverage front brake caliper (non-dual pivot). For those who
want the riding position of an M-type in superlight form.

of the range: 6-speed, rack, hub-dynamo system, kevlar reflective
tyres, vitesse saddle and a full complement of titanium parts. |
