Specialized Crossroad Range

Specialized have been making these for years.

They're practical, durable commuting bikes. The upright riding position gives you a great view of the traffic, and the plain colours mean they don't stand out too much when they're locked up in public. All have the attachements that make fitting racks and mudguards easy. They're all also available in women's shape frames (with step-through frame).

Crossroads £250

Even the cheapest crossroads comes equipped with Specialized's excellent own-brand puncture resistant tyres. New colour this year is Carbon - stylish, yet understated - might get admiring glances in your hallway, but won't stand out on the bike rack outside your work. 24 speeds, with mega-range gearing that gives you a low low option for crawling up hills with a ton of shopping. Upgrade on last year - comes with a stronger rear hub.

Crossroads Sport £300

Black, with comfortable saddle and grips, puncture resistant tyres, and 24 speeds. A sturdy, reliable regular commuter. Also available in Women Specific geometry - a shorter top tube means it's more comfortable, and makes it easier to see where you're going!

Crossroads Elite £400

I cannot rely on the pictue alone to convey what a lovely colour this is. It's called Root Beer, which I am given to understand is some kind of an american beverage. I hope it tastes as nice as it looks. And also that they make a bike next year in a colour called 'lovely cup of tea.' I'd buy that.

oh, and also, lighter and swifter, with strong, stiff wheels and a suspension seatpost. .

Crossroads HU8 £400

Finally, a proper production 8 speed hub gear bike. Low maintenance, with no dangly bits to get caught up in your clothes. still the same lightweight frame and comfortable riding position as all the other crossroads models. City riding as it should be. Puncture resistant tyres and chainguard are specced as standard. Black only.
