Surly Frames
Surly frames are made of steel. Steel is this years' carbon fibre, which I think was the year befores’ aluminium. I’m not sure why there’s a fashion in bike frame materials, but people love ‘new’. Surly ain’t new. They're just good.
A non-cyclist could tell the difference in ride characteristics between steel and aluminium. Aluminium is efficient at transferring power to movement yet just as good at transferring bumpy roads to sore buttocks. Ride a Surly or equivalent quality steel bike and you’ll forget about what it’s made of as you push a little longer or harder than you set out to. It’s just so responsive, forgiving and fun.
As you can see they make something for everyone except dual suspension or rickshaw riders, but even that may change, they do seem quite excitable folk.
We like building Surlys as they go together smoothly, the threads are all clean and ready to use, with a great durable finish. Even better, you don’t need any obscure poncy components to complete.
From £330 you can buy a frame that’ll last longer than one 10 times the price. We can tell you which parts off your old steed we can transfer and we can usually do a complete build in a day, as long as you’ve got an appointment. We’re gonna collect pics of all our Surly builds in the coming months adding before and after shots so you can see how they bear up under the harshest of South London's’ environments. Hopefully you’ll appreciate the many and varied applications and permutations. A tourer cyclo-cross 28speed or a 29” mtb fixed wheel commuter or single speed beer monster, all on the same frame!
Test ride one.
I wish they were dearer ‘cos they’re special and sometimes people only appreciate something if it costs the earth and is made of “unobtainium”.
