As a rough guide, we recommend you treat your bicycle to at least two services a year. If you use it a lot, for example commuting every day, you may want to have it serviced more often. If you do a fair bit of routine maintenance yourself, you can get away with less.
We have three choices on the service menu: Checkover, Standard Service and Senior service.
You'll need to leave your bike with us for a day, so you'll need to make an appointment. We're booked up for about 7-10 days at the moment, please phone us on 020 7733 6055 for the next free slot.
We don't have much space to spare in our shop, so we ask that you bring your bike in on the morning of your appointment or the evening before, and pick it up on the evening of the appointed day, or the following morning.
Checkover: £40 plus parts.
This is recommended if your bike has been in storage, if you don't use it very often, or if it's in good running order and you want to be keep it that way
Checkover plus: £55 plus parts.
Like a checkover, plus wheeltruing and fitting accessories.
Standard Service: £75 plus parts.
This is the most popular choice. We check and adjust everything that moves, replacing components as necessary. The labour charge is £70, but you will almost certainly need extra parts – brake blocks, cables, tubes, tyres, etc. Pop into the shop with your bike anytime, we can give you an estimate of how much you need to spend, and book you in at the same time.
There are a few things a service doesn't cover – for example, replacing headsets or bottom brackets, and building wheels. We can price these in on top of the service charge, but it may be that you should consider a Senior Service – see below.
What do we do in a service? Check frame, forks, dropout straight. Wash bike, clean drivetrain. Check bottom bracket, tighten crank bolts and pedals. Adjust cones front and rear. Secure wheels. True wheels front and rear, replacing spokes if necessary. Check tyres for wear, foreign objects, pressure. Replace if necessary. Check cassette lockring. Check brake fixing bolts and mechanism, clean and oil. Check brake blocks and cables, adjust and replace if necessary. Check chain, cassette and chainrings for wear, replace if necessary. Adjust and lubricate front and rear derailleurs and cables. Check suspension forks, lubricate externally. Adjust headset, check bars and stem, replace grips or bartape if necessary. Adjust and secure saddle. Adjust and fit accessories. Polish.
Senior Service: £120 plus parts.
This the full works. We take your bike apart, clean and polish it down to the last bearing, and lovingly reassemble it. This option is the best value if you want to keep your bike in tip top condition.
And of course, On the Spot (OTS). This is our morning bike surgery, for small emergency repairs to keep you on the road. You don't need an appointment, just bring your bike in during the first hour of the day, every morning we're open (9-10 Monday to Saturday, 10-11 on Thursdays) and we'll fix it while you wait. You have to bring it in between these times, you have to wait with it, and you have to take it away with you. If you can't make it in these times, or you can't wait with it, call for an appointment. Prices charged per job.
Fleet management. We offer a bike fleet management service to a variety of organisations. If you wish to set up an arrangement with us to purchase and/or repair you fleet please call for further details.
